Putin: China is on track to surpass the US as a global trading power
(Baonghean.vn) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said that China is on track to surpass the US to become a global trade power.
At the annual press conference before Russian and international media held on December 23,Russian President Vladimir PutinChina will surpass the United States in every economic aspect within the next three decades, he said, predicting that Washington will lose its dominant position in finance and trade.
"Today, the Chinese economy is larger than the US in terms of purchasing power. By 2035-2050, China will become the world's leading economy by all metrics," President Vladimir Putin said.

Mr Putin said the West was working to weaken China and stifle its development. He added that the US-led diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, citing human rights violations, was an effort to ensure China “could not raise its head” in the face of its rivals.
According to Mr. Putin, this decision is "unacceptable, wrong" and "an attempt to restrain China's development".
At a press conference on December 23, Mr. Putin said that China is Russia's number one partner, praising the relationship between the two countries as "comprehensive, strategic, and unprecedented." Russia and China have a trade turnover of more than 100 billion USD.
Earlier this month, President Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping held online talks amid escalating tensions between the two countries and the West.
