(Baonghean) - TASS news agency (Russia) said that a representative of the US government expressed the prospects for a bilateral meeting between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that could be held next November.

Accordingly, there will be two opportunities for the leaders of the two countries to meet: the G20 Summit, which will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina from November 30 to December 1, or at the military parade in Paris, France, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the armistice agreement after World War I, which will be held on November 11. The US government representative also added that President Trump hopes that President Putin will accept the invitation to visit Washington as soon as possible.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Moscow does not rule out the possibility of a second meeting between President Putin and President Trump in the near future. However, this meeting needs to be carefully considered and discussed, in the context of existing tensions and disagreements between the two sides.

“At any of the above international events, the two leaders will attend at the same time. However, no one can give a definite answer as to whether there will be a bilateral meeting or not,” said Dmitry Peskov, adding that preparations for the event have not yet begun.

The Kremlin spokesman also expressed confidence that Russia and the US will certainly continue to discuss opportunities for meetings between leaders in the coming time, especially the meeting between President Putin and US National Security Advisor John Bolton on October 22-23.

The first official summit between Russia and the United States was held in Helsinki, Finland, in July 2018. The event was divided into two parts: a direct meeting lasting more than 2 hours between the two leaders, followed by an expanded meeting between high-ranking representatives of the two countries. The content of these meetings covered everything from bilateral relations between Russia and the United States to international issues, with the results being assessed by President Putin and President Trump as “a big step forward”.
