Mr. Putin and Mr. Trump will meet soon. |
Speaking to reporters, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the US accusations were baseless, unprofessional and not commensurate with the caliber of international security agencies. Mr. Peskov affirmed that Moscow rejected all accusations that Russia was behind the cyber attacks, adding that Russia was "tired" of these accusations.
The Kremlin representative also said that once Donald Trump takes office as US President on January 20, the two countries will determine the time for the first meeting between the leaders, because both Trump and Putin have expressed their desire to mend the Russia-US relationship, which has always been in a state of tension.
Mr. Peskov's statement is the first official response from Moscow to the report released by the US intelligence agency on January 6, which stated that Russia interfered in the US election in November.
In the report, US intelligence officials said that Russian President Putin ordered a campaign in 2016 aimed at the US election with the aim of eroding public confidence in the democratic process in the US. This is the full intelligence report conducted by the US intelligence community under the direction of US President Barack Obama in early December./.
