(Baonghean.vn) - In recent years, Russia has maintained its position as a major arms exporter in the world. Russia's position in the global arms market is increasingly consolidated and its influence is expanding, despite the West's increased sanctions and unfair competition.

At a meeting of the Commission for Military-Technical Cooperation with Foreign Countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed that the export of weapons and military equipment is increasing in both quantity and quality.

In 2019, export trade in the field of weapons reached 13 billion USD, an increase of more than 2 billion USD compared to the same period last year. The list of Russian weapons orders is always stable, and can exceed 50 billion USD/year.

Therefore, the Russian leader asked to constantly analyze the situation on the arms market, take into account the needs of customers and meet growing demand.

In addition, the high demand for domestic military products is also a great driving force to improve the forms, procedures and working methods. All to maintain the leading position in the high-tech weapons segment.

In 2019, at 7 international arms exhibitions held, the Russian defense industry demonstrated its latest achievements. This attracted attention and prompted the signing of many agreements on cooperation in the export of Russian weapons. Contracts worth about 55 billion USD were signed.

According to analysts, four main factors such as long tradition, reliability, potential and close relationship are key factors helping Russia affirm its role as a powerful arms seller.

Moreover, Russian weapons are competitively priced and highly capable. For example, in terms of technical specifications, compared to the US Patriot, the Russian S-400 long-range air defense system is superior, but the price is only half.

For partners, another benefit of choosing to buy Russian weapons is flexibility in payment. Moscow can allow customers to buy weapons in exchange for palm oil, or other commodities at prices lower than market prices.

In addition, arms sales agreements between foreign partners and Russian arms manufacturers always include contracts for maintenance, repair and supply of spare parts.
