Que Phong promotes support for farmers to develop livelihood models
With timely encouragement and support from local authorities and Farmers' Associations at all levels, associated with the movement "Farmers compete in production, good business, unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty", many farmers in the mountainous district of Que Phong have boldly invested in suitable economic models, rising out of poverty...
Promote the brandfruittheprofessional association
Mr. Kim Van Dung's family in Huu Van village is a typical example of household economic development in Chau Kim commune with a model of garden, pond, barn, forest... with an average income of 200-300 million VND per year. He is also a member of the Goat Raising Professional Association in Huu Van village with a scale of more than 100 goats.
Mr. Dung said: Participating in the professional association will help livestock farmers in the village share experiences in care and disease prevention; access loan sources, and find stable markets for their products.

The border commune of Nam Giai is one of the leading units in building and developing cooperative models; establishing branches and professional farmer associations. A typical example is Thanh Tam Agricultural and Service Cooperative with 17 member households, focusing on raising local chickens.
Mr. Ngan Van Lam in Puc village, Nam Giai commune (member of Thanh Tam Agricultural and Service Cooperative) said: My family's farm raises an average of 700-1,000 chickens in the form of free-range chicken farming, the main food is agricultural products (corn, rice, cassava, etc.) so the quality is guaranteed. From input to output, the cooperative guarantees all purchases, the main market is Kim Son town and surrounding areas.

In addition to the cooperative model, Ms. Lu Kim Tien - Vice Chairman of Nam Giai Commune People's Committee added that there is currently a Pig Breeding Professional Association in the area with 16 members, an average scale of 300 pigs, the largest household raising 50 pigs. In addition, the Commune Farmers' Association is also promoting the establishment of a black chicken breeding professional group, initially expected to have 10 households participating with a scale of 1,000 pigs...
In the border commune of Tri Le, there are 451 hectares of rice, with two crops per year. In recent years, rice has become a commodity that brings good income to farmers, especially the traditional sticky rice variety and Japonica rice with outstanding aromatic, delicious, and sticky characteristics.

According to Mr. Vi Hoi - Chairman of Tri Le Commune Farmers' Association: In order to develop into an OCOP product, in June 2024, Tri Le Commune Farmers' Association coordinated with Tri Le Commune People's Committee to launch the specialty product of Tri Le fragrant rice, with packaging and labels with necessary information. Accordingly, the supply point managed by the Farmers' Association and the commune's agricultural land officials will purchase and consume products for people, and use social networks to promote and introduce the products.

Thanks to that, the specialty of Tri Le fragrant rice has gradually become known to many people, with large orders and higher economic value than retail sales among the people. Currently, the price of Japonica rice ranges from 23,000 - 25,000 VND/kg; Khau Cay Noi sticky rice is about 25,000 VND/kg. Besides rice production, the Tri Le Commune Farmers' Association also encourages people to invest in livestock development; establish professional associations for raising buffaloes and cows. Thanks to that, many models of overcoming difficulties to escape poverty have appeared in the area, typically Mr. Ly No Po in Na Nieng village with a scale of more than 80 buffaloes and cows.

Currently, Que Phong district has 13 professional farmer groups and associations (raising buffaloes and cows for breeding and fattening; raising local pigs; raising goats; developing local specialty fish...).

Mr. Mac Van Tuat - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Que Phong district said: The branches and professional associations with the criteria of 5 together (same field of labor, production industry; same concern, same sharing, same responsibility and same benefit) were established and put into operation, contributing to improving the quality of activities, building a strong Association; creating close links, solidarity to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty among members in the same branch and association.
This is also a solution to form commodity production chains, helping farmers improve agricultural economic efficiency.
Many "midwife" activities
Aiming at the goal of sustainable poverty reduction, the Farmers' Association of Que Phong district has implemented many "midwife" activities to encourage the movement of farmers competing in production and good business; helping each other escape poverty in many forms such as exchanging business methods, production experience, capital, providing plants and seeds, creating jobs on the spot...

In 2024, the association at all levels registered to help 14 households to escape poverty. For example, the family of Mr. Lo Thanh Luan - Khoanh Do village, Chau Kim commune was selected by the District Farmers' Association to build a model of "Skillful mass mobilization accompanying union members who are party members in economic development". Accordingly, Mr. Luan was supported with 5 million VND to buy breeding animals and receive scientific and technical guidance to develop livestock farming.
Similarly, in Muong Noc commune, 10 households in Na Cong village were given loans of 300,000,000 VND from the Farmers Support Fund to effectively implement the "Breeding Cows" project.
Currently, the total Farmers Support Fund of the district has 2,447 billion VND invested in building 16 models such as raising local chickens, pigs, taro; growing vegetables; raising bamboo rats; raising caged fish; growing ginseng potatoes...

In addition, Farmers' Associations at all levels in Que Phong district have proactively coordinated with the Bank for Social Policies to effectively implement entrusted loans to poor households, near-poor households, capital for job creation and other policy beneficiaries.
In the first 6 months of 2024, the total outstanding loan balance from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies was VND 145,346 million for 2,555 farming households with 73 groups, with a loan turnover of VND 19,606 million. Thereby, creating conditions for households to invest in economic development, increase income, contribute to reducing poor households, and increasing well-off households in the locality.
Vocational training, supporting farmers in digital transformation in production, business, promotion, and consumption of agricultural products; building and registering brands for typical agricultural products are also actively implemented by the District Farmers' Association in coordination with specialized sectors. For example, coordinating with the Post Office to bring typical products of farmer members to the postmart e-commerce platform.

In addition, the District Farmers' Association also coordinates with the cultural and tourism sectors to promote and publicize community tourism models associated with eco-tourism in the area, contributing to promoting and opening up directions for local tourism development.
“In the coming time, the district association will continue to direct the promotion of service activities to support farmers in developing household economic models; establish professional associations suitable for each locality. Thereby, helping members have the opportunity to learn and exchange experiences in production and animal husbandry, contributing to sustainable poverty reduction, promoting local socio-economic development”, Mr. Mac Van Tuat - Chairman of the Que Phong District Farmers' Association emphasized.
