Que Phong organizes the Nine-Room Temple Festival in 2024
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 24 (February 15 of the lunar calendar), Que Phong district held the opening ceremony of the Nine-Room Temple in 2024, attracting a large number of people and tourists.
The Nine-Chamber Temple was built in the early 14th century in Pu Cho Nhang, called Ten Pom (temple on the mountain), in Khoang village, Chau Kim commune, Que Phong district.

In the minds of the Thai people in Phu Quy area, this is a place to turn to in their spiritual beliefs towards Then Pha (heaven), Nang Xi Da (daughter of heaven) and Tao Lo Y - the person considered to have the first merit in opening up the land.

The temple is called "Ten xo quai" (Hien Trau temple), but because it has 9 rooms, the locals call it "ten cau hoong" (meaning Nine-room temple), each room represents a muong: Ton muong, Pan muong, Chun muong, Hin muong, Puoc muong, Quang muong, Ha Quen muong, Mieng muong, Chon muong.

Previously, the Nine-Chamber Temple Festival was held every three years in the eighth lunar month. Since 2006, the Nine-Chamber Temple Festival has been held on a grand scale again in the middle of the second lunar month every year. This year, the festival will be held from March 23 to March 25, 2024 (ie February 14 to February 16, the year of the Dragon).

At the end of the 18th century, the temple was moved to Pu Cam, Pieng Chao village, Chau Kim commune. In 1927, the temple was restored with a stilt house, with 4 rows of pillars, nine compartments made of ironwood, and roofed with corrugated iron. From 1927 to 2003, after many events, the temple was degraded and only ruins remained. In 2004, the temple was restored and in 2008 it was recognized as a provincial cultural relic. In 2016, the Nine-compartment Temple Festival was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.
The organization of the Nine-Chamber Temple Festival is an opportunity for people from nine villages and ten Muongs in Phu Quy area to make a pilgrimage to their homeland to hold a festival to worship heaven, ancestors, pray for favorable weather, good crops...

This year's Nine-Room Temple Festival takes place with many activities, the ceremony includes the opening ceremony, the proclamation ceremony (Khây quan ceremony), the buffalo bathing ceremony and the procession ceremony (ap Quái and ton Đăm-ton Then), the buffalo slaughtering ceremony (phan Quái ceremony), the great sacrifice ceremony (xò Thế and xo Đăm ceremony), the opening ceremony and the thanksgiving ceremony (cha lon - Thao quan ceremony).

At the festival, locals and tourists can immerse themselves in the jubilant atmosphere with folk games, cultural and sports activities imbued with national identity such as: tug of war, crossbow shooting, throwing con, gong fighting, stilt walking, carving competition, gong singing, love duet singing competition... Along with that are competitions in traditional costumes, Thai Lai Tay writing competition, and cuisine.
