The National Assembly held its first online meeting at the 9th Session. National Assembly deputies said this was an opportunity to apply information technology and demonstrate flexibility.

This is a special session, marking innovation, demonstrating flexibility, taking full advantage of the application of achievements of modern science and technology, while still ensuring the maintenance of a democratic and public atmosphere in accordance with the provisions of law.

Delegate Don Tuan Phong, An Giang delegation, said that the delegates did not meet in person during the first half of the session, but the provision of information to National Assembly delegates was still maintained and ensured through application software.

National Assembly deputies can submit questions, request information and receive results directly on the National Assembly Library's online information system.

According to delegate Phong, the National Assembly's online meetings are a necessary measure, a flexible innovation to meet the requirements of both controlling the epidemic and maintaining reasonable social distancing while still properly performing the functions and tasks of the National Assembly.

"According to the Law on Supervision, National Assembly deputies must regularly and continuously every day through many methods, so I think that online meetings do not hinder the performance of the functions and tasks of National Assembly deputies, which is to carry out supervision work" - said the delegate of An Giang delegation.

Delegate Tran Quang Chieu, Nam Dinh delegation, said that online meetings save a lot of time and travel costs. In addition, the form of providing documents online helps save costs of printing documents. These improvements have been applied and received and highly appreciated by delegates.

"The Covid-19 pandemic is also an opportunity to increase the application of information technology. I am 63 years old and do not find any difficulties or problems in the process of acquiring, using information technology and researching documents" - delegate Chieu shared more.

Besides, some delegates said that the online meeting is an opportunity to draw experience to implement other meetings of the National Assembly and other agencies in the coming time.

Delegate Nguyen Sy Cuong, Ninh Thuan delegation said that,People are also concerned about the possibility of technical problems as this is the first time the National Assembly has met online at the Session.

"From now until the end of May, there may be some problems, but in reality, what was expected has been achieved, especially the speeches and registration of speeches by delegates. Now there are no difficulties. Through this, I think we can learn from this meeting to be able to implement other meetings of the National Assembly as well as the Government" - Mr. Nguyen Si Cuong expressed his opinion.
