Parliament hears report on 39 deaths in UK

On the morning of November 5, before the discussion session, the National Assembly listened to Secretary General of the National Assembly Nguyen Hanh Phuc report on the case of 39 victims who died in the UK.

Secretary General of the National Assembly Nguyen Hanh Phuc said that immediately after the incident, the British Government transferred to Vietnam the fingerprint records of all 39 victims for cross-reference to determine the identities and nationalities of the victims.

On November 2-3, a working delegation from the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs visited and worked with British authorities to coordinate the handling of related work.

Secretary General of the National Assembly Nguyen Hanh Phuc said that there are currently many sources of information about the number of Vietnamese among the 39 victims who died in the UK, but according to information sent directly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on November 4, the police of Exxess County, UK have been actively working and coordinating to carry out very complicated procedures.

"After comparing identities, preparing a report to the British Court and having it approved by the panel of judges, the identities will be announced, so we need to wait a few more days for official results," said General Secretary Nguyen Hanh Phuc.

Also according to Secretary General of the National Assembly Nguyen Hanh Phuc, immediately after receiving information that there might be Vietnamese victims, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Public Security to coordinate in identifying the victims according to the British side's proposal, and at the same time investigate and detect cases and networks that organize the illegal sending of Vietnamese people abroad, strictly handle violations of the law, and implement citizen protection measures according to regulations.

At the same time, an interdisciplinary working group was established to coordinate with the British Police to resolve the case, notify and directly advise the victims' families to resolve the victims' funeral arrangements.

The Government also assigned the Ministry of Information and Communications to inform and propagate about fraud rings and illegal emigration of Vietnamese citizens abroad, and to refute false and distorted arguments.

On November 3, the Government leader also chaired relevant ministries and branches to agree on a handover plan from the UK to bring the victim's body back to Vietnam in the spirit of upholding our country's responsibility in protecting citizens, ensuring political security, social order and safety, and Vietnam's reputation and image.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu also emphasized that the deaths of 39 victims in the UK in recent days have caused strong emotions around the world. The National Assembly would like to send its deepest condolences to the families of the victims.

The National Assembly requested the Government, ministries and localities to coordinate with relevant countries to verify and clarify violations of citizen protection. At the same time, it requested the Ministry of Public Security to direct and focus on clarifying illegal human trafficking networks to strictly handle them according to the law, and at the same time take effective measures to prevent this situation./.
