The National Assembly discussed the draft Civil Code (amended)
Continuing the 10th session program, today (October 24), the National Assembly discussed a number of contents with different opinions of the draft Civil Code (amended).

Before proceeding with the discussion in the hall, the National Assembly will listen to Chairman of the National Assembly's Law Committee Phan Trung Ly present a report explaining, accepting and revising the draft Civil Code (amended).
The Draft Civil Code has a total of 672 articles, organized into 6 parts and 24 chapters.
Compared with the 2005 Civil Code, the draft retains 263 articles, amends 297 articles, adds 126 articles, and abolishes 149 articles.
The draft Civil Code has been submitted for public consultation under Resolution No. 857/NQ-UBTVQH13 dated December 25, 2014 of the National Assembly Standing Committee.
According to the Ministry of Justice, as of May 15, 2015, through 100 reports on the results of public consultations by central ministries, branches, provinces and centrally run cities and the results of other consultation activities, there have been approximately 8.5 million public comments on the draft of this Law.
In response to public opinions, the Government has directed the Ministry of Justice to synthesize, research, and coordinate with the National Assembly's Law Committee, the Government Office, relevant ministries, branches, organizations, and experts to absorb, revise, and perfect the draft Code.
The draft Civil Code (amended) was submitted to the National Assembly for consideration in three sessions (from the 8th to the 10th session) and is expected to be approved at the 10th session.
