In the first quarter of 2025, traffic accidents nationwide decreased in all three criteria.
On the afternoon of May 16, the Government held a national online conference to review the work of ensuring traffic order and safety in the first quarter and the direction and tasks for the second quarter of 2025. The conference was chaired by Mr. Tran Hong Ha - Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Government.CommissionNational Traffic Safety Committee chaired.

The first quarter of 2025 is the first phase of implementing new regulations of the Law on Road Traffic Safety, the Road Law and Decree No. 168/2024/ND-CP dated December 26, 2024 of the Government.
According to the Ministry of Public Security Office, in the first quarter of 2025, there were 4,760 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 2,615 people and injuring 3,186 people. Compared to the same period in 2024, there were 1,833 fewer accidents, 215 fewer deaths, and 2,003 fewer injuries.

The Ministry of Public Security directed the Public Security of units and localities to arrange forces to organize patrols, inspections, control, and handle violations of over 800,000 cases of road, railway, and inland waterway traffic safety violations; impose fines of over VND 1.7 billion, revoke nearly 10,000 driving licenses, certificates, and professional qualifications; and detain more than 230,000 vehicles of all kinds. Compared to the same period in 2024, nearly 200,000 cases were handled less, and fines decreased by more than VND 271 billion.
In Nghe An, in the first quarter of 2025, there were 98 traffic accidents, killing 80 people and injuring 67 people. Compared to the same period in 2024, there were 20 fewer accidents, 13 more deaths, and 20 fewer injuries. Nghe An Traffic Police organized 9,450 traffic patrols and controls, with 35,525 officers and soldiers participating. Thereby, 18,108 cases were detected and administrative records were drawn up; 16,899 cases were fined; and more than 30.9 billion VND was collected for the State budget.

At the conference, representatives of a number of localities, ministries and branches also focused on discussing and clarifying the results achieved in the first quarter of 2025 and proposed solutions to continue reducing traffic accidents on all three criteria in the coming time.
Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested ministries, branches and localities to continue focusing on groups of solutions. That is, localities need to maintain continuous and close leadership and direction in ensuring traffic safety; step up propaganda and raise awareness of traffic participants, especially motorcyclists and students when participating in traffic.
