What projects does road traffic safety include?
Mr. Nguyen Van Toan, residing in Quynh Luu district, asked: What are the road traffic safety works? In what cases must reflective markers or reflective paint be installed to warn road users?

According to Article 24 of the 2024 Road Law, road traffic safety works are constructed, installed, and arranged to ensure safety for people and vehicles participating in road traffic, including:
1. Rescue roads are built on steep mountain passes so that vehicles that lose control when going downhill can leave the main road, slow down and stop;
2. The rescue tunnel is attached to the road tunnel, serving the purpose of escape, rescue, and relief when the main tunnel has an accident or used for road tunnel maintenance. The rescue tunnel is not used for the purpose of traffic circulation;

3. Protective walls, barriers, and guardrails are placed in dangerous locations to prevent vehicles from leaving the roadway when they encounter an accident and cannot control the vehicle.
In case there are no markers at the same time, the protective wall and guardrail fence must be equipped with reflective markers or reflective paint to warn road users of dangerous locations and guide road users to go in the correct direction of the roadway;
4. Anti-glare works are arranged on the median strip, which has the effect of reducing the impact and reducing the light of oncoming vehicles on the eyes of drivers participating in road traffic;
5. Convex mirrors are installed at the back of small radius curves, intersections with limited or obstructed visibility, helping drivers of vehicles participating in road traffic to observe from a distance oncoming vehicles to adjust speed accordingly;
6. The lighting system is built to ensure safety for people and vehicles participating in traffic; the lighting time in the road tunnel is according to the operation and exploitation process of the tunnel project;
7. Median strips are installed to divide the roadway into two separate directions or to divide the roadway for motor vehicles and non-motorized vehicles or for many different types of vehicles on the same roadway;
8. Noise walls are built at necessary locations to reduce noise caused by road vehicles;
9. Speed bumps are installed in locations that require warnings or require drivers of vehicles participating in road traffic to reduce speed to ensure traffic safety;
10. Other works serving road traffic safety.
