Forest Protection and Development Fund celebrates 10th anniversary

Nghe An is a locality withforest areaThe largest in the country, but also under a lot of pressure in forest protection and development work, while the budget support for forest protection work is difficult.

In 2011,Forest Protection and Development Fund(BVPTR) was established. During its operation, with the attention of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, relevant sectors and units, local authorities providing DVMTR, along with the efforts of cadres, civil servants and employees, the Fund has always fulfilled its assigned tasks.

Up to now, the Forest Protection Fund has been a trusted address for more than 50 domestic and foreign partners, ensuring an annual revenue of 120 - 130 billion VND. Over the past 10 years, the results of mobilizing revenue sources have increased quite steadily. If the annual revenue in the period of 2011-2013 only reached 30 billion VND, in the period of 2014-2016 the average annual revenue reached 60 billion VND, and in the period of 2017-2020 the figure increased to 100 billion VND/year. In 2021, it is expected to collect 130 billion VND from 51 contracts for entrusting payment for forest environmental services and 13 reforestation projects.

In 2012, the area paid was only 97,000 hectares, in 2015 it reached 228,094 hectares, by 2021 the area paid will be over 540,000 hectares (an increase of more than 5 times compared to 2012). Forest stands in hydropower basins have been effectively restored to cover.

Thanks to the timely and full payment of DVMTR, the lives of people in the mountainous areas of Nghe An have been significantly improved, contributing significantly to the construction of new rural areas...

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Nghia Hieu - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged and commended the achievements of the staff, civil servants and employees of the Forest Protection and Development Fund, and emphasized: In the coming time, the Fund needs to continue to innovate, expand partnerships, actively exploit new funding sources and types of forest services, constantly improve productivity and quality of providing career services, and strengthen the application of information technology in management and operation more effectively.

Nghe An Provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund strives to become a leading State financial institution in the province as well as the North Central region to effectively support the development of the forestry sector through mobilizing social resources for forest protection and development, sustainable forest management, responding to climate change, improving livelihoods for forest workers and conserving biodiversity.
