Quynh Luu protects crops and livestock from the cold

(Baonghean.vn)- Due to the impact of the severe cold spell that has occurred in the past few days, on January 26, leaders of Quynh Luu district organized a delegation to inspect cold protection work for crops and livestock.

Quynh Luu currently has about 26,000 buffaloes and cows, nearly 45,000 pigs and over 1 million poultry of all kinds. Due to the impact of the severe cold in the past few days, the health of livestock has been greatly affected, causing a potential risk of major epidemics.

Therefore, to help livestock grow well, stay healthy and limit disease outbreaks, Quynh Luu district has directed relevant agencies, departments and branches to strengthen propaganda and raise awareness among livestock farmers.

Currently, rice in Quynh Luu has not been damaged by the cold.

With 7,600 hectares of spring rice, Quynh Luu district has so far planted nearly 50%, equivalent to 3,700 hectares. For the planted rice area, the district has directed people to regularly check the fields and pay attention to keeping the rice warm. For the seedling area, cover 100%, add phosphate and wood ash, and keep the seedling fields warm enough to better resist the cold.

According to the inspection team's assessment, up to this point, livestock, poultry and rice and vegetable areas of Quynh Luu district are still safe.
