Quynh Luu: Chili growing model with yield reaching nearly 900 kg/sao

(Baonghean.vn) - Implementing the policy of converting the crop structure of the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district to convert some areas of rice and ineffective vegetable cultivation to grow some high-quality commodity crops, the Agricultural Extension Station of Quynh Luu district brought hot chili varieties for trial planting in An Hoa commune.

The model has 97 households participating in planting with an area of ​​5 hectares, the households are trained by the Agricultural Extension Station on care techniques as well as prevention of other pests. Planting time starts from October 19 to 20, 2015, after 45 days of planting, the chili peppers are ready to harvest.

Ms. Ho Thi Phuong in Hamlet 1, Toan Luc is harvesting chili peppers and said: her family grows nearly 1 sao of chili peppers, this is the third harvest she has done. Each time she harvests about 60-70 kg of chili peppers.

After 45 days of planting and caring, the chili peppers are ready to harvest. Every 5 to 7 days, people continue to harvest once and this lasts for 5 to 6 months.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lap excitedly said: My family grows 1 sao of hot chili, each harvest is about 100 kg, currently the hot chili field is still full of fruit and will continue to harvest in the next 5 days, at the same time next year we will expand the area to grow this hot chili variety.

The hot chili variety is grown on inefficient land in the fields of Toan Thang Cooperative but is very effective. The high yield is estimated at 800 to 900 kg/sao and is much more effective than growing corn, tobacco, and rice varieties as before.

Manh Cuong Company Ltd. came to the place to purchase and consume chili products for the people. The current purchase price of the Company is 11,500 VND/kg. Since the harvest, the Company has purchased about 4,5 tons of chili for the people.
