Quynh Luu: Striving to achieve 1 million vaccinations for poultry

(Baonghean.vn) - According to the plan, spring vaccination for livestock in Quynh Luu will start from March 15, 2016 and end on April 6, 2016. This time, Quynh Luu will inject nearly 1 million doses of vaccine for poultry.

Quynh Ba commune currently has nearly 56 thousand poultry, raised in 55 farms, of which about 10 farms raise large numbers. To implement the vaccination plan under the direction of superiors, commune veterinary officers coordinate with hamlets to go to each household to grasp the number of flocks, and mobilize people to register to buy vaccines to prevent diseases for livestock. Thanks to compliance with livestock vaccination, the locality has had no outbreaks of disease among livestock for many years.

Mr. Nguyen Van Linh - Chairman of Quynh Ba Commune People's Committee said: Every year, the locality always focuses on the implementation of vaccination for livestock. The commune develops a plan, assigns specific targets for each subject that must be vaccinated and directs hamlets to fully prepare the conditions for organizing vaccination to ensure quickness, on time, and uniformity to maximize the effectiveness of the vaccine. Assign commune veterinary officers to each household to vaccinate, and the commune will take measures to handle any households that do not vaccinate.

Quynh Luu is a district with a large poultry population of nearly 1.4 million. Vaccination is considered a technical measure to create active immunity and increase resistance for poultry to limit and reduce the spread of disease when an epidemic occurs. Therefore, the district is focusing on directing 33 communes and towns in the area to implement the vaccination plan for the spring crop of 2016.

Vaccination with the right technique and timing increases the effectiveness of disease prevention.

For poultry, Quynh Luu encourages farmers to proactively vaccinate against common diseases such as avian influenza (H5N1), Newcastle, fowl cholera, gumboro, duck cholera, etc. In particular, people need to apply biosecurity measures in livestock farming to prevent diseases. The estimated amount of medicine to vaccinate poultry this time is nearly 1 million doses of vaccine.
