Review and handle traffic accident black spots on National Highways 1A and 48

On May 19, a working delegation of the Provincial People's Committee led by Mr. Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected a number of black spots and potential traffic accident spots on National Highway 1 (section through Vinh City, Nghi Loc, Dien Chau) and National Highway 48 (section through Thai Hoa Town, Quy Hop).

Also attending were representatives of relevant departments, branches and sectors, representatives of the Road Management Department II, leaders of the People's Committees of Nghi Loc, Dien Chau, Quy Hop districts and Thai Hoa town.

In Nghi Loc district, the delegation inspected the black spot from the intersection of National Highway 7C and National Highway 1 (Km 446+700 QL1A) in Nghi Long commune. Here, from the beginning of February 2019 to the end of April 2021, there were 7 traffic accidents, killing 5 people and injuring 5 others.

In Dien Chau district, the delegation conducted a field survey at Cau Bung intersection (Km 420+ 800 QL1A) in Dien Ky commune and Yen Ly overpass intersection (Km 412+200 QL1A) in Dien Yen commune. This is a potential traffic accident spot. From the beginning of January 2019 to the end of December 2020, there were 4 traffic accidents here, injuring 4 people.

On the same day, the delegation conducted a field survey at Hieu 1 Bridge (Km 35+800 QL48) in Hoa Hieu Ward, Thai Hoa Town. In this area, from the end of January 2019 to the beginning of March 2021, there were 2 traffic accidents that killed 2 people and injured 2 others. Based on inspections and field surveys, along with recommendations and proposals from localities and traffic management units in the area, Comrade Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that most of the black spots and potential traffic accident spots have limited visibility and are obscured, especially at the corners of intersections and crossroads; narrow bends, without traffic light systems...

Based on the above reality, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee to summarize the shortcomings and propose solutions for each location. In addition, local management units need to coordinate with localities that have been identified as having black spots and potential traffic accident spots to actively propagate to people to comply with the Traffic Law. Traffic police need to increase their forces, organize closed patrols in the area, handle violations of traffic safety order, and focus on violations that are the main causes of traffic accidents such as: driving under the influence of drugs, violating alcohol concentration, violating load, speeding, etc.
