(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 27, Tan Ky District People's Court held a mobile trial of a criminal case of gambling and gambling against 9 defendants all residing in Nghia Phuc commune, Tan Ky district.

According to the indictment, after the Lunar New Year of Dinh Dau 2017, in the area of ​​the communes of Nghia Phuc, Tan An, Dong Van, Tan Hop (Tan Ky), especially Nghia Phuc commune, a number of people gathered to gamble on a large scale, causing outrage among the people.

Not only that, this group of subjects constantly changed gambling locations, each day they only gambled for 1-2 hours or just 1 hour and occasionally some subjects from outside the district participated.

While investigating and monitoring, at noon on March 17, Tan Ky District Police discovered a group of people organizing gambling and betting in the form of dice shaking at the house of Nguyen Van Canh (born in 1972) in Hong Ky hamlet, Nghia Phuc commune, Tan Ky district.

At 12 noon the same day, Tan Ky District Police organized forces to raid the house and arrested 9 subjects including: Nguyen Van Canh (homeowner); Nguyen Viet Duc (born 1976), Nguyen Dinh Tu (born 1968), Tran Van Tien (born 1990), Tran Dinh Song (born 1981), Nguyen Van Tien (born 1974), Tran Viet Soi (born 1986), Truong Van Binh (born 1977) and Nguyen Thien Sam (born 1962), all residing in Nghia Phuc commune, Tan Ky district.

During the investigation, the police determined that the amount of money the defendants used for gambling was 27,100,000 VND.

In court, the subjects confessed that they were free, it was raining, and they had nothing to do so they decided to gamble together. In the group, Nguyen Viet Duc, who in September 2016 had committed a gambling crime but had not yet had his criminal record cleared, reoffended.

Nguyen Van Canh alone benefited 800,000 VND from letting the above subjects gamble at his house. Nguyen Van Canh's above actions constituted the crime of gambling.

At the end of the trial, the panel sentenced Nguyen Viet Duc to 4 months in prison; Nguyen Dinh Tu to 9 months suspended; Nguyen Van Canh to 12 months suspended; Tran Van Tien and Tran Dinh Song were both sentenced to 12 months suspended; Nguyen Van Tien to 7 months suspended; Nguyen Thien Sam was fined 10 million VND and Truong Van Binh was fined 13 million VND.
