The "Flight" robot with the ability to detect and destroy targets within a range of more than 6 km can be installed on the Russian border.

Russia has just successfully created a robot called "Flight" that can detect and shoot down targets from a distance of more than 6 km, Mirror reported on November 11.

The device is mainly used to detect low-flying drones and other airborne weapons that intrude into the border. It can monitor the location of the aircraft, learn information about their origin and track their movements, and send all the data to the command center.

The "Flight" robot consists of radar, thermal imaging camera, black and white camera and color camera.

“Its radar can detect human and car targets at distances of 7 km and 10 km, respectively. The targets are then tracked using an optical system,” explained Dmitry Perminov, chief engineer of the project.

He asserted that the robot is attracting a lot of attention. It can be used for military purposes, as well as to protect other strategic objects.

"This device can be installed in the oil and gas sector to control pipelines and prevent oil theft. During the system testing, the robot detected a man cutting an electric cable. Thanks to that, the police were dispatched in time to catch him red-handed," Perminov said.

He said the upgrades to the equipment were ongoing, adding high-definition cameras to make it easier to spot drones, with the aim of distinguishing between friend and foe.
