Military helicopter crash in Afghanistan, 25 people killed

A military helicopter crashed in Anar Dara district of Farah province, western Pakistan, killing all 25 people on board.

Afghan officials say a military helicopter has crashed in the Anar Dara district of the western province of Farah, killing all 25 people on board.
Among the victims were members of the Farah Provincial Council and several military officials. The chairman of the Farah Provincial Council, Farid Bakhtawar, was also on board the flight.
Naser Mehri, spokesman for the governor of Farah province, said two helicopters were en route to Herat province when one lost control. He also stressed that the helicopter crashed in bad weather conditions.
Meanwhile, a Taliban spokesman claimed that the force had shot down the plane.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
