- From 6:00 p.m. on August 17 to 6:00 a.m. on August 18: 7 new cases were recorded, including 1 imported case that was quarantined immediately.

Information on new cases: 7 new cases (BN977-983), including 6 domestic cases (Quang Nam: 3, Hai Duong: 2 and Hanoi: 1) and 1 imported case quarantined immediately in Can Tho. Specifically:

- CASE 977-978 (BN977-978) in Hai Duong:The two patients are both 46 years old and are related to the outbreak on Ngo Quyen Street (there have been 9 cases in this outbreak). Currently, the two patients are isolated and treated at the Hai Duong City Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

- CASE 980 (BN980) was quarantined immediately after entering Can Tho:The patient is a 37-year-old female, residing in Duc Nhuan, Mau Duc, Quang Ngai. On August 15, the patient returned to Can Tho from the Philippines on flight VJ7816 and was quarantined immediately upon entering Can Tho. On August 16, the patient was tested by the Can Tho Provincial Center for Disease Control and the result was positive for SARS-CoV-2. The patient is currently quarantined and treated at the Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital in Can Tho City.

- PATIENTS 981-983 (BN981-983) in Quang Nam:aged 15-90 years old, including: 1 case is a patient at Da Nang Hospital; 2 cases are F1 of previous patients. Currently, 3 patients are isolated and treated at Quang Nam Regional General Hospital.
