Free wifi coverage coming soon throughout Ho Chi Minh City

This move aims to facilitate tourists and residents in looking up information and contribute to building e-government that the city is focusing on implementing.

According to Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen, a Singaporean enterprise haspropose to equip the city with free wifi so that tourists can conveniently look up information. This service also helps to implement many issues in building e-government that the city is focusing on implementing.

"I have worked with them and will have an official document. Whether it is a pilot or a mass project will be calculated. Currently, many localities have provided free wifi for residents and tourists. In 2012, Hoi An (Quang Nam) became the first city in the country to deploy a free wifi system with 350 hotspots.

Since 2013, Da Nang City has also installed 320 broadcasting stations in public areas, tourist routes, administrative centers, and densely populated areas to help people connect to information and use online public services.

In Ho Chi Minh City alone, many public places such as Nguyen Hue walking street and major hospitals are now covered with free wifi for people to use.
