Thousands of cubic meters of earth and rock collapsed, National Highway 7 was blocked again for a long time
(Baonghean.vn) - Thousands of cubic meters of rock and soil from the slope fell onto National Highway 7, causing a traffic jam for more than 12 hours in the section passing through Lang Khe commune (Con Cuong). The management unit mobilized many vehicles to fix the problem, but as of 9:00 a.m. on August 21, the jammed point was still closed to traffic.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Yen - Head of Con Cuong Road Management Department said that the landslide appeared at 6:00 p.m. on August 20, at km 110 + 830 on National Highway 7, passing through Boong village, Lang Khe commune, Con Cuong district. The landslide was more than 70 meters long with thousands of cubic meters of earth and rock.
Immediately after the incident, the management unit mobilized 2 loaders and 2 excavators to clear the traffic jam.

However, the recovery was difficult because of prolonged rain, floods, waterlogged mountains, and the more the soil and rocks were shoveled, the more they sank.
After more than 12 hours of rescue, this section of the highway is still blocked. Vehicles are lined up for more than 2km waiting for the road to be cleared.

Many locals brought food and drinks to sell to visitors while waiting for the road to be cleared.
Authorities such as Traffic Inspectorate, Traffic Police, Road Management Department... have also been present and on duty since the landslide occurred.

It is expected that this road will be cleared around early this afternoon, August 21.
