Serious landslide causes traffic jam in Ky Son

According to the report of the District Economic Infrastructure DepartmentKy SonAfter the rain on the night of August 5, a landslide occurred, causing traffic jams on several key traffic routes.

At km 28-30 (Provincial Road 543D), in Muong Tip Commune, there were 4 landslides on the positive slope. A large amount of rock and soil from the positive slope slid down onto the road, making it impossible for cars and motorbikes to pass. Traffic on this route is temporarily interrupted. Authorities have promptly erected barriers and posted warning signs to ensure the safety of road users.

In Bao Nam commune, heavy rain also caused landslides on power grid poles, affecting the progress of building additional classrooms at the school.

To have a plan to handle landslides, on August 6, the leaders of the District Party Committee and the People's Committee of Ky Son district conducted a field survey at the landslide sites. Accordingly, the leaders of Ky Son district requested functional branches and localities together with the people to prepare plans to respond to floods and rains according to the "4 on-site" motto. Review households living in streams and creeks at high risk of flash floods and landslides to be ready to implement plans to evacuate to safety. Focus on handling traffic congestion caused by rain and landslides.

Propaganda to people to limit movement during floods, if necessary, ensure safety. Warning signs should be posted at streams, creeks and landslide risk areas and forces should be assigned to guide people to move, to ensure absolute safety for people's lives and property.

Officers and soldiers of Muong Ai Border Guard Station (Nghe An Border Guard) are the on-site force to support in overcoming the consequences. Accordingly, Muong Ai Border Guard Station has coordinated with local forces to actively clear landslides, helping to ensure that motorbikes can pass through landslides. At the same time, they have organized signs and assigned forces to warn people to limit their movement through landslides to ensure safety.

Mr. Tho Ba Re - Vice Chairman of Ky Son District People's Committee said: In addition to Provincial Road 543 having many landslides, on National Highway 7, the section from Muong Xen town to Nam Can border gate also had 3 landslides, but the road is still open.

"The survey shows that National Highway 7 is still open, however, at these landslide points there is a high risk of further landslides, so if it continues to rain heavily, there is a risk of traffic congestion. Currently, the district is directing localities to regularly monitor the landslide situation to have timely solutions," Mr. Tho Ba Re added.
