According to records at markets in Vinh city such as Hung Dung market, Quan Lau market, Quang Trung market... the prices of vegetables increased by 10 - 15% compared to normal days. Due to the impact of storms and rains, vegetable growing areas in Vinh city in particular and the whole province in general were severely damaged. The supply of this item has decreased significantly, so the prices of vegetables have increased significantly, each type increased from 2,000 - 5,000 VND. Specifically, water spinach costs 6,000 VND/bunch; green mustard: 8,000 VND/bunch; squash: 15,000 VND/kg; cabbage: 14,000 VND/kg; tomatoes: 30,000 VND/kg...

Ms. Ha, a vendor at Quang Trung market, said that this morning most of the green vegetables have increased in price, because of the flooding, many vegetables are not available for sale. “After the storm, the supply is scarce, we have to mobilize all the sources to have vegetables to sell to the market. This morning, almost all of them have been sold, a bunch of mustard greens costs 8,000 VND but there are still no more to sell.”

Not only green vegetables have increased in price, but fresh foods such as pork, chicken, beef, etc. are also in a similar situation. Lean pork loin costs 100,000 VND/kg; pork belly costs 90,000 VND/kg (an average increase of 20,000 VND/kg). In addition to pork, some poultry products at traditional markets have also increased in price by 5,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the selling price of aquatic and seafood products remains the same, such as tilapia at 40,000 VND/kg; red tilapia at 60,000 VND/kg; snakehead fish at 120,000 VND/kg, etc.

Ms. Lan, a trader at Hung Dung market, said: “Most food prices have increased due to the impact of storm No. 2. Therefore, we have to import at higher prices than usual but still cannot sell enough.”
