(Baonghean.vn) - Darkness, fog, and limited visibility caused a fishing boat in Nghe An to crash into a reef. Two fishermen on board were fortunately rescued by people in Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu district, Nghe An).

As reported, on the evening of February 25, fishing boat NA 95102 - TS of Mr. Pham Van Cuong (residing in Hamlet 5, Son Hai Commune, Quynh Luu District) was on its way from Lach Quen Fishing Port (Quynh Thuan) to Lach Thoi Port (Son Hai Commune) to hold a fishing ceremony. Due to darkness, fog, and limited visibility, the fishing boat crashed into a reef.

The location of the accident of the NA - 95102 ship is about 1km from the mainland in Cong Hoa village, Quynh Long commune. The strong collision caused the lower hull of the ship to crack, water flooded into the compartment.

At this time, some fishermen from Quynh Long commune discovered the incident and used a basket boat to swim out and save the two fishermen on board. The NA 95102 - TS ship was built by Mr. Pham Van Cuong and 6 friends with a total cost of nearly 1 billion VND, each offshore trip usually has 16 fishermen participating in catching seafood.

Mr. Bui Trung Son, Vice Chairman of Quynh Long Commune People's Committee said: "After receiving information about the incident of a fishing boat of fishermen in Son Hai Commune colliding with a reef under the management of the commune, Quynh Long Commune People's Committee informed the relevant authorities, sent local officials together with the Son Hai Commune government and fishermen to take measures to rescue the distressed boat and transport the fishermen's assets ashore. By 5:00 p.m. on February 26, after a day and a night, the boat had not been pulled out of the danger zone, because the hull of the boat was on a reef and had been punctured, and the boat is currently in its old position."

Currently, the vehicle owner and the authorities are continuing to work out a plan to get the ship out of the danger zone. The vehicle owner's family, the people of Quynh Long and Son Hai communes have mobilized many barrels, ditch trees to form rafts to press against both sides of the boat, waiting for the tide to rise, combined with the help of other means to pull the damaged vehicle out of danger. If this plan fails, a salvage ship will have to be hired.
