Schweinsteiger burst into tears on the day he said goodbye to the German national team

Midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger officially ended his international career after playing in Germany's 2-0 win over Finland.

Borussia Park in Moenchengladbach was where Bastian Schweinsteiger played his last match for the German national team, with the captain's armband on his arm.

Before the match, the Manchester United midfielder said goodbye in tears in front of a large crowd of fans. He also could not hide his emotions when leaving the field amid endless applause from the stands.

After a goalless first half, the home team's complete dominance was confirmed in the 55th minute with Max Meyer's opening goal. In the 77th minute, the gap was doubled when Mesut Oezil's pass hit the Finnish player's foot and went into the net. 2-0 in favor of the Germans was also the final result of the match.

Thus, besides paying tribute to Schweinsteiger, coach Joachim Loew's team also had a favorable start before facing Norway in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers in Europe a few days later.
