SHELTER FOR THE POOR
For decades, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ngan and her daughter in Phong Lac hamlet, Nghi Phong commune have lived in a dilapidated house. Every time the rainy season comes, they are always afraid that the house will collapse, and when it rains, they have to wash basins to catch water because the house is so dilapidated. As a single mother raising children, life is extremely difficult, so a solid house is also a dream for her. Faced with that situation, the Phong Lac hamlet Front Committee organized to collect opinions and support the construction of a solidarity house for Mrs. Ngan's family, with 100% of households in the hamlet agreeing to support and propose to soon implement the construction so that her family can have a stable place to live.

Livelihood models to help the poor have been built by the Front in coordination with agencies and organizations in the district, such as: breeding cow models, supporting scientific and technical training, supporting breeds for producers; through the activities of self-governing poverty reduction groups in residential communities associated with agricultural extension work, lending capital has added motivation to help poor households overcome difficulties. In 2019 alone, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee supported 5 poor households to raise breeding cows.
“The family’s economy is facing many difficulties due to lack of capital to develop livestock farming. The family is fortunate to receive support from the District Fatherland Front Committee for a breeding cow. For us poor people, that is a great asset. The family will take good care of the cow, have more capital to continue investing in livestock farming to escape poverty.”
Vice Chairman of Nghi Loc District Fatherland Front Hoang Van Cuong said that supporting the construction of solidarity houses, livelihood support... creates conditions for people to escape poverty sustainably, demonstrating the care and concern of Party committees, authorities, and the Fatherland Front Committee, and at the same time has a widespread influence in the entire community, has profound humanitarian significance, and contributes to the local goal of sustainable poverty reduction. In the coming time, the district Fatherland Front will continue to replicate livelihood support models to help people become self-reliant and escape poverty instead of relying on material support sources.
