Fake silicone filler: Women lose money and suffer from disabilities
Filler (dermal filler) when injected under the skin will actually self-destruct, but many facilities inject fillers of unknown origin or actually silicone that has long been banned, causing serious consequences for many customers.
Recently, on social media, a transgender woman named Linda (real name Mai Kim Tri) shared about her 70% facial deformity after having silicone removed from her face.
Previously, Linda shared that she had injected fillers to maintain and improve her youthful appearance. Later, Linda discovered that the filler she injected into her face was actually liquid silicone, which would cause many complications later on, so she decided to remove it. However, Linda got an infection and the wound became swollen and deformed after the silicone was removed.

Linda's case is not an exception. Not long ago, a girl named TCN, living in District 9, posted on a large beauty forum about her lips becoming lumpy, swollen, and painful, and feeling hard to the touch after being injected with filler by someone without a degree in aesthetics. N. shared that someone at this spa injected her lips with two or three fillers, causing them to swell up. She only spent 2-3 million but was guaranteed to continue injecting until she was... satisfied.

Or even though she was already very beautiful, TTV. (living in Hanoi) had a nose job, V-line chin injections, and lip injections in the hope that her features would be more harmonious, such as a really high nose, really thick lips, really long chin... However, instead of using standard fillers, she was injected with silicone into her lips. Worried about her health, V. accepted the pain to have all the silicone removed.

According to Professor, Doctor, Doctor Do Quang Hung, Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Cho Ray Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital often receives cases of injection of fillers of unknown origin or problematic injection techniques, resulting in skin necrosis, requiring skin incision to treat, leaving unsightly scars.
Filler, a compound made from hyaluronic acid, currently has many types. On average, a product distributed in the US with FDA certification and permission from the Ministry of Health, with an average warranty, costs five million/1cc, not including the doctor's salary.
Currently, many spas and beauty salons accept filler injections for only 2 or 3 million, which are definitely fake, not quality fillers or silicone, but are smoothly advised to be artificial fat because people are very allergic to silicone, a substance that has long been banned from use, causing many complications such as deforming the injected skin area.
Usually, if it is really a filler, it will self-destruct after 6 months to 2 years depending on the type of filler. Dr. Hung said that the filler injection technique is not simple, but it must be done by a doctor with a practice license and technical training to know where the blood vessels and nerves are to avoid injecting there.
Dr. Hung is concerned that many people without medical qualifications and knowledge are still injecting randomly, causing customers to suffer, losing money and getting sick. According to Dr. Hung, even dermatologists who have not studied aesthetics are not allowed to inject fillers or botox.
Currently, nose filler injections are very popular because they are easy to do. Dr. Hung said that when receiving cases of customers who conveniently go to the hairdresser and are advised by the staff to inject fillers to lift their noses, how can the technique and sterile room be met? After 24-48 hours, the customer's nose appears red, which is a sign of infection. If left for a long time, it can cause the entire skin area to rot.
"The most terrible complication of silicone injection is embolism, pulmonary embolism causing coma and death. If silicone has been injected into the body, it cannot be scraped off but must be removed and the silicone and surrounding healthy tissue, causing concavity, tissue reconstruction or the use of implants in the chest area, for example. Doctors must advise patients about this condition so they can decide. In many cases, doctors can advise patients to temporarily live in peace with silicone. In addition, because the facial skin has many blood vessels and nerves, it is impossible to remove all the silicone. When wanting to remove silicone, people should find a reputable facility because not just any place can do it," said Dr. Hung. Acute complications of incorrect filler injection are injection into blood vessels causing pain, filler penetrates deeper causing blurred vision, blindness, skin necrosis in an area. For example, filler injection in the nose area will cause blood vessel embolism, skin necrosis in the nose wing, bridge, more severe cases can cause vascular occlusion, causing the patient to fall into a coma. Blood vessels that control the nose wing, bridge of the nose are usually very small, if the filler penetrates, it must be cut, certainly leaving an unsightly scar. |
