On the evening of December 10, the Singapore Ministry of Health announced that the country will begin vaccinating children aged 5-11 against COVID-19 this year.

The island nation has vaccinated 87% of its 5.5 million population and authorities are rushing to vaccinate children amid concerns about a surge in COVID-19 cases among that age group.

The dosage for children will be one-third of the dosage for adults, similar to that in the US. Currently, Singapore has only approved the use of Pfizer-BioNTech's Comirnaty vaccine for children in the country.

The ministry also said Singapore has signed a new agreement with Pfizer-BioNTech to supply COVID-19 vaccines, but did not specify the volume of the order.
