Information from the deceased child's family: On January 2, 2024, the child vomited and coughed, so his family took him to Anh Son District Medical Center for examination. There, he had a blood test, a chest X-ray, and then the doctor gave him medicine to take home.
At 2:00 a.m. on January 3, 2024, the child started coughing a lot, so the family hired a car to take him to Anh Son District Medical Center. Doctors performed blood tests and gave the patient IV fluids. About 15 minutes later, the child had a seizure and died.

Upon receiving information about the incident, on the afternoon of January 3, 2024, Nghe An Department of Health issued Official Dispatch No. 24/SYT-NVY "Regarding reporting of death cases at the unit" to the Director of Anh Son District Medical Center.
The document clearly states: The Department of Health has received information about a case of a 13-year-old child dying of unknown causes at the Anh Son District Medical Center. Regarding this issue, the Director of the Department of Health requests the Director of the Anh Son District Center to promptly report the incident to the Department of Health (Medical Affairs Department) before 5:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Update information about the incident daily to the Department of Health at 7:30 a.m. every day and ad hoc when requested.
According to the leader of Nghe An Department of Health: The Department of Health has also requested Anh Son District Medical Center to share and encourage the family members of the deceased patient.
