Virtual life in real life

(Baonghean) - Since the advent of social networks, many people, especially the young generation, have fallen into the syndrome of living a virtual life online. That is, going online gives them a completely different lifestyle than in real life and is often many times more "magnificent" than in real life. But not only the young generation, but adults are also living a virtual life. The thing is, it's not online but right in real life.

Surely everyone has not forgotten what happened just a few days ago. A customs officer of the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department was temporarily detained with more than 60 envelopes containing 1 billion VND suspected to be bribe money.

That story did not surprise many people because it was so familiar. The only surprise was that about a month or two before, at the City People's Council meeting, the authorities had boldly declared that they had not discovered any embezzlement, corruption or bribery. However, the person who had just been arrested had received that amount of money in just five days. Without harassing businesses, how could he have received that amount of money in such a short time?

Of course, he was not alone, but must have had a whole team to be able to get through. When mentioning this, the press did not clarify whether the person with the "huge" amount of envelopes was a party member or not, but not long ago, the General Department of Customs launched a campaign for 100% of the Party grassroots organizations in the entire industry to sign a commitment that no cadres were negative or violated labor discipline. Yet...

But signing is one thing, implementing it is another. In fact, signing commitments has become quite common in our country, such as traffic police in a province signing a commitment that 100% will not accept bribes, 100% of doctors in a hospital signing a commitment not to accept commissions for prescribing drugs. And many agencies and units have also signed commitments like this and that. But then the chaos and negativity of the type "causing harm just for money" has not decreased at all.

So we know that commitment is just a formality, just empty talk. It is not real. It is virtual. But people still do it, which means they still believe that way of doing it will bring about results. Of course, we cannot be sure whether people really believe it or intentionally believe it. If so, it is no different from living in a virtual world, believing in things that are not real or knowing they are not real but still trying to believe.

A second type of virtual life is also very popular in our society. That is deliberately lobbying, begging or falsifying achievements to be awarded this or that title. Then, proudly holding a grand ceremony to force everyone to acknowledge that you are good and talented. But in fact, you do not deserve it. That is why the People's Committee of Ca Mau province has just directed the Emulation and Reward Committee of this province to stop proposing the Ministry of Home Affairs to reward the provincial Department of Justice for its achievements in administrative procedure reform because it found that it was not in accordance with the procedure and in fact did not deserve to be rewarded. Or the story of hundreds of students who had to drop out of school to make a living due to poverty, but the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Chau town, Soc Trang province still eloquently reported that the town had up to 99% of children going to school to be rewarded.

But those are sporadic illusions. The larger, more widespread illusion that everyone can see is that many villages, hamlets, and neighborhoods hang signs of cultural villages and neighborhoods, but social evils still occur every day, people's lives are always insecure with drug trafficking, prostitution, thugs, stabbings, robberies... People think that just by attaching a sign, they become a cultural person, neighborhood, village, and neighborhood and are complacent with that title. The whole country has 22 million families, of which 19 million households meet cultural standards, so our country is almost reaching the standards of a cultural country. But looking at society more broadly, there is not a moment when there are not stories, anti-cultural events. As the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of this field said, "cultural life still has many problems, social ethics, civilized lifestyle still have many painful issues...".

That is enough to know the true nature of that cultural title. In fact, not only in the cultural field but also in many other fields, people freely give each other titles of excellence, exemplary, clean, strong... but when something happens, they realize that it is not clean, not strong. But then no one learns from the experience, but every year it is still performed regularly. The giver smiles, excited, the receiver also smiles excitedly, without any embarrassment as if they really deserve it. And sometimes they think they really deserve it.

It is clear that many places and many people are living a virtual life in real life.
