According to fishermen, the jellyfish fishing season lasts from March to May every year, with the peak being in March. There are two trips out to sea every day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, or one in the evening and one in the early morning. Jellyfish are abundant within about 4 nautical miles from shore. Photo: Quang An |

After harvesting, jellyfish are spread out on tarps and dumped directly on the beach to wait for traders to come and buy them. Currently, in Dien Kim and Dien Hai communes, there are 3 large jellyfish processing facilities specializing in purchasing for people. In addition, traders from inside and outside the province also flock here, so jellyfish are basically consumed stably, fishermen do not need to sell them retail. Photo: Quang An |

Despite the good harvest, jellyfish prices are currently falling. If at the beginning of this year, jellyfish prices fluctuated from 1.3 to 1.5 million VND/ton, now they are only 800,000 to 1,000,000 VND/ton. Photo: Quang An |

According to traders, the reason for the decrease in jellyfish prices is due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, so jellyfish cannot be exported to China and South Korea - the main markets, while domestic restaurants are not interested in importing in large quantities at this time because of sluggish business.
