T-90 is open, waiting for good news from CAESAR deal
In 2015, many foreign news sites reported that Vietnam will order up to 108 155 mm CAESAR self-propelled artillery systems manufactured by France.
The above information was published before the announcement: during this term, the Vietnamese Army will be prioritized for modernization.
Not long after that, there was news from a Russian newspaper that Vietnam would order up to 200 T-90MS main battle tanks, with an estimated contract value of billions of USD.
After a period of uncertainty due to the prediction of a massive purchase of modern weapons, there has been a significant lull, causing many people to think that such rumors are probably just... rumors.
However, according to the latest developments, Vietnam will receive 64 T-90s this year. Although the T-90S version is less modern than the T-90MS, and the number is only enough to supply 2 battalions, far below the expected number of 200, this is of course a positive signal.

The issue that attracts attention and contains many expectations for military observers in Vietnam at this time is whether the CAESAR self-propelled artillery deal will have a new step forward?
In the process of investing in army modernization, artillery and armored vehicles always require appropriate attention to be able to fully develop their capabilities on the battlefield; the lack of one of the two will cause deviation.
Therefore, when the T-90 contract has shown real signs, it is not too optimistic to think that the prospect of purchasing CAESAR artillery will have a new and noteworthy step forward in the near future.
