As the fire was raging at the fuel pump pipe joint, the British driver quickly climbed into the fuel tanker, drove out of the gas station and called the police.

On the afternoon of February 3, Mr. Nguyen Chi Anh (38 years old, from Ha Tinh) drove a tanker truck carrying 4,000 liters of gasoline from Long Xuyen City to Tinh Bien District (An Giang). When the truck stopped at gas station 54 on National Highway 91 to pump gasoline into the tanks, a fire suddenly broke out at the fuel pipe joint and caught fire in the tank.

Panicked, the British driver quickly got into his car, started the engine, and drove about 15 meters away from the gas station. Unable to bear the heat, the driver jumped out of the car and joined everyone else in trying to put out the fire, but was unsuccessful.

Dozens of fire police from Tinh Bien district and 4 fire trucks arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire after 30 minutes.

"Fortunately there were no casualties, the thousands of liters of gasoline tank was safely protected," said Lieutenant Colonel Le Thanh Dong, Chief of Tinh Bien District Police.
