Miss Phuong Nga's 'fraud' case temporarily suspended
Ho Chi Minh City police did not have time to clarify a series of contradictory details, accusing Phuong Nga of defrauding a tycoon of 16.5 billion VND... so they temporarily suspended the case.
On August 10, Ho Chi Minh City Police decided to temporarily suspend the investigation into the Fraud and Appropriation case involving Truong Ho Phuong Nga (Miss Vietnam in Russia 2007) and her close friend Nguyen Duc Thuy Dung.
This move was made by the investigation agency because it could not clarify 9 points of the case within the 30-day period previously requested by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court. Therefore, the investigation agency had to issue a decision to "temporarily suspend the case" to wait for the results of the appraisal and verification of related evidence.

Previously, on June 29, after many days of trial, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court stated that the case had many new details, refuting the indictment accusing Phuong Nga of defrauding a tycoon of 16.5 billion VND, so it decided to release Phuong Nga and My Dung on bail. The panel also returned the case file, requesting the investigation agency to clarify the conflicting details and the basis for charging the two girls.
Specifically, the court said that the amount of 16.5 billion VND that Nga allegedly cheated Mr. My, but both defendants affirmed that this was money that the US gave to Nga. Meanwhile, Mr. My's testimony was inconsistent, and other evidence was also contradictory. Mr. My stated that before buying the house on Nguyen Trai Street, he went to see it but did not contact anyone... it is necessary to check the facts to compare these statements.
Witness Nguyen Mai Phuong denied the testimony of Nga and Dung. The testimony still has many contradictions and needs to be investigated and clarified.
It is necessary to check the traceability on Nga's computer to clarify the time of creation of documents related to the house purchase agreement on Nguyen Trai Street. The panel also requested to investigate who created those documents for handling.
Investigate information that Nga and Mr. My stayed in the same hotels, as provided by the lawyer, to consider violations of monogamy.
It is necessary to clarify how Dung participated in creating the house documents to determine the defendant's role as an accomplice.
Retrieve Nga's emails to see when the agreements related to the relationship were made. In addition, the court also recommended investigating whether or not the prison warden named Nghia violated the judicial activities of helping Dung and her boyfriend communicate...
