Four individuals specializing in slaughtering and distributing diseased pork to the market have been detained.

Previously, on July 30th, the Economic Police Department of the Provincial Police and the Provincial Market Management Department of Thanh Hoa Province coordinated to inspect businesses involved in the slaughter and sale of pigs and pork in the province.
During inspections at the establishments owned by Le Manh Dang, Mai Van Hung, and Ngo Thi Lan, these individuals failed to present any documents related to their business operations.
During simultaneous inspections of these establishments, authorities discovered and seized a total of 1,609 kg of pork from the homes of Le Manh Dang, Mai Van Hung, and Ngo Thi Lan. All of the pork lacked documentation proving its origin and quarantine certificates, and was suspected of being diseased. According to the initial confessions of the suspects, the pork originated from diseased pigs, which they purchased for slaughter and resale.
The Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine of Thanh Hoa province collected pork samples from the suspects' homes and sent them to the Central Veterinary Diagnostic and Testing Center for disease testing. The results showed that all samples tested positive for African swine fever virus.
Through questioning, the suspects confessed that, starting in April 2025, under the direction of Le Manh Dang, they began buying sick and weak pigs from dealers, then transporting them for sale and slaughtering them at home. The slaughtering usually took place between 0:30 AM and 3:00 AM.
Trading and consuming sick or dead pigs is a violation of the law and may result in administrative fines ranging from 6 million to 20 million VND, or may lead to criminal prosecution.
Following this incident, the police recommend that the buying, selling, transporting, and consuming of sick or dead pigs not only contributes to the spread of disease and causes significant losses to the livestock industry, but also threatens public health if diseased pork is consumed. Above all, people should absolutely not buy or sell diseased pigs; they should only purchase meat with clear origins and inspection stamps. If violations are detected, people can report them to the nearest authorities for verification and timely action. Let's work together to protect public health.
The police are currently continuing their investigation, expanding the scope, and strictly prosecuting those who have committed violations.
