Criminal detention of driver who caused accident that left 7 people injured

On February 10, Chuong My District Police, Hanoi, said they were temporarily detaining the driver of the car that caused a serious traffic accident in the area, leaving 7 people injured and dead.

Previously, at around 3:00 p.m. on February 9 (the second day of the Lunar New Year), a car with license plate 29S-3725 driven by Ngo Van Vuong (39 years old), residing in Chi Ne village, Trung Hoa commune, Chuong My, was traveling on National Highway 6 in the direction of Hoa Binh - Hanoi.

On February 10, Chuong My District Police, Hanoi, said they were temporarily detaining the driver of the car that caused a serious traffic accident in the area, leaving 7 people injured and dead.

When arriving at Dong Phuong Yen commune, Chuong My district, Hanoi, there was a collision with a pedestrian in the same direction, Mr. Pham Van Vung (68 years old), residing in Doi 2 village, Dong Phuong Yen commune, Chuong My.

The car then collided with three motorbikes traveling in the opposite direction. One of them was driven by Nguyen Dac Son (34 years old), residing in Xuan Mai area, Xuan Mai town, Chuong My, Hanoi, carrying his two daughters (9 years old and 1 year old), his 16-year-old son and his wife. The other two motorbikes were driven by Nguyen Quoc Vinh (34 years old), residing in Thuy Xuan Tien commune, Chuong My, carrying Cao Van Quang (18 years old), residing in the same village; and the other was driven by Nguyen Huu Tuyen (41 years old), residing in Tien Truong area, Xuan Mai town.

The consequences caused Mr. Son and his two daughters sitting in the front seat to die, his wife and son were seriously injured and had to be taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. Mr. Vinh and Mr. Quang were also seriously injured and had to be taken to the hospital. Mr. Tuyen and Mr. Vung were slightly injured.

Chuong My District Police confirmed that the preliminary cause was that the car, when colliding with a pedestrian in the same direction, lost control, crashed into a motorbike going in the opposite direction, then caused a chain accident with two other motorbikes. The driver, named Vuong, had been drinking alcohol, but his alcohol level was still within the permitted level.

Currently, Chuong My District Police have detained Ngo Van Vuong and are continuing to investigate and clarify the cause of the tragic accident.
