Tan Ky successfully raised Thai cow breed.
(Baonghean.vn) - Encouraging the conversion of crop and livestock structure to increase income value for people, Tan Ky currently has many new models, including Thai cow farms.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh's family in Hamlet 4, Nghia Binh Commune has long been involved in livestock development, raising local yellow cows and dairy cows. However, in early 2018, after consulting and researching, she learned that Thai beef cattle breeds are highly profitable, so she switched to investing in raising cattle with a total herd of 16 cows.

This was the first time the Thai cow breed was used, so the couple had to carefully research and learn from the stages of care, barn cleaning to disease prevention. According to Ms. Thanh, although the initial investment cost was high, each cow cost an average of 22 million VND, this breed of cow was easy to raise and gained weight quickly; the initial cow weighed 200 kg, and after 5 months of raising it, it increased to 500 kg. Currently, her family has sold the first batch, with a selling price of 80,000 VND/kg of live weight, deducting expenses for a profit of 170 million VND.
She also added that if this quantity of local beef or dairy cows were raised, it would take 2 workers; but Thai cows are easy to raise, require little daily food, and are suitable for the local climate, so only 1 worker is needed to take care of them.

"This breed of cow was purchased from a facility in Hanoi that supplies the breed and guarantees product consumption for the people, so the output is stable. When buying the breed, they loaned me a small amount of capital as a basis for committing to product consumption. Therefore, my family is assured to raise the cows; currently, my family has restored the herd to 22 cows, and will soon catch 30 more cows," said Ms. Thanh.
Ms. Thanh's family is one of 16 households that have implemented the policy of Nghia Binh commune to move their farms and ranches to the fields to develop livestock farming and ensure environmental hygiene. Thanks to the land fund, she has invested in building a systematic and scientific barn to raise Thai beef cattle.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang - Vice Chairman of Nghia Binh Commune People's Committee said that the commune has advantages in developing livestock and poultry farming. In particular, recently, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh's family in Hamlet 4 has boldly introduced Thai beef cattle into farming and has affirmed its outstanding efficiency. Based on Ms. Thanh's family model, the commune encourages households to introduce this breed of cattle. The commune is directing the establishment of livestock cooperatives to create legal conditions for households to facilitate the supply of breeding animals as well as the consumption of products.
From the success of Ms. Thanh’s family, many households inside and outside the commune have come to visit, learn, and invest in raising Thai beef cattle. Up to now, in Tan Ky area, there are 6 households investing in raising this breed of cattle, each with a total herd of over 10 cows./.
