According to information from the Tan Ky District Agricultural Service Center, in recent days, locusts have appeared at high density in many areas of meter forest in Nghia Binh commune. Immediately after that, specialized agencies coordinated to assess the situation, showing that the total area of ​​meter forest in Nghia Binh commune is about 200 hectares in the business phase, of which the area invaded by locusts is about 105 hectares, with about 40 hectares severely damaged.

Worryingly, locusts are in the larval stage, have many different generations and are very destructive, with the risk of widespread invasion and other crops.

Faced with that situation, the People's Committee of Tan Ky district directed specialized agencies to coordinate with Nghia Binh commune to urgently implement timely solutions to prevent and control locusts.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Trung - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tan Ky district said that in recent days, specialized agencies: Agricultural Service Center, Protective Forest Management Board, Forest Ranger Department coordinated with Nghia Binh commune and forest owners to organize spraying of plant protection chemicals to kill locusts, by using engine sprayers mounted on aircraft (airplanes) to spray on areas where locusts are causing damage.

"In previous years, the bamboo area in the district was damaged by locusts, but at low density. This year, the locust density is higher, the damage to crops is more severe, so the District People's Committee has directed specialized agencies to implement timely prevention solutions," said Mr. Nguyen Cong Trung./.
