Strengthening forces to ensure traffic order during holidays
(Baonghean) - During the April 30 and May 1 holidays this year, workers will have 4 days off, so it is forecasted that the number of people and vehicles will increase dramatically. Therefore, the work of ensuring traffic safety and order is being vigorously implemented by the authorities so that people can have a safe and happy holiday.

Last year, during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, traffic jams occurred on some routes leading to tourist destinations in the province. For example, at Khe Kem waterfall (Con Cuong), the number of vehicles pouring into this tourist area was so large that the road from Con Cuong town was congested. Mr. Tran Ngoc Huy in Le Loi ward (Vinh city) recalled: "Last year, I took my wife and children "to the forest" for a trip, but unexpectedly, after passing the Con Cuong town intersection for about 1 km, I got stuck in a traffic jam in Yen Khe commune for the whole day."
In Cua Lo town, although the number of tourists has decreased compared to previous years due to the marine environmental incident, on the occasion of the opening of Cua Lo tourism on April 30, 2016, tens of thousands of tourists still flocked to the town, causing the roads to the town to be congested with vehicles, especially on the three main routes: Cau Cam - Cua Lo, the intersection of Quan Banh - Cua Lo and Vinh City - Cua Hoi - Cua Lo. Cua Lo town had to coordinate and mobilize about 600 officers, soldiers and civil defense forces of the wards and set up checkpoints, traffic diversions, and avoid traffic congestion. This year, the number of tourists flocking to Cua Lo beach is forecast to increase compared to 2016, especially on the occasion of the opening of Cua Lo tourism, so ensuring traffic order and safety will be more difficult.
In addition to the above-mentioned tourist attractions, there are many other relics and scenic spots in the province that also attract thousands of visitors during this holiday. These include Kim Lien relic site (Nam Dan), Xao Va waterfall, Bay Tang waterfall (Que Phong), Cau Cau dam (Thanh Chuong) and beaches in Dien Chau, Quynh Luu districts, Hoang Mai town. The number of people and vehicles will increase dramatically, thus creating great pressure on key routes such as National Highway 1A, National Highway 46, National Highway 7A, National Highway 48, Vinh - Cua Hoi - Cua Lo route... and some inter-commune and inter-district routes such as the road to Khe Kem waterfall, Pha Lai dam (Con Cuong), routes from National Highway 1A towards the sea in Dien Chau, Quynh Luu, Hoang Mai town...
Assessing that the traffic safety situation during the holiday will be complicated, the Provincial People's Committee has just issued a telegram requesting the following units: Department of Transport, Provincial Police, districts, cities and towns to focus on strengthening propaganda for traffic participants; maximally meeting the transportation needs arising during peak periods, especially at traffic hubs, minimizing congestion, especially on key traffic routes; Continuing to maintain and expand special task forces to strengthen patrols and control of key areas and routes; Promptly detecting and strictly handling violations of traffic safety and order and arranging forces at key routes and intersections to separate lanes, flow and guide traffic to ensure smooth traffic, especially during peak periods. |
Implementing the telegram of the Provincial People's Committee, local sectors have taken drastic measures. Typically, in Cua Lo Town, to ensure traffic safety during the tourist season, the Town People's Committee and the Town Police have issued many documents and plans to strengthen patrolling and control; work to restore order and re-encroach on sidewalk corridors according to Resolution 56 of the Provincial People's Council... propagandizing to electric vehicle businesses in the area to run on schedule, not to arbitrarily stop to pick up and drop off passengers.
Senior Lieutenant Tran Van Ngoc - Head of the Traffic Team of Cua Lo Town Police said: Because currently in the town, the number of electric cars serving tourists is quite large, with nearly 470 registered cars and 103 cars preparing to register, if all cars circulate together, it will certainly lead to chaos. Therefore, the solution is that households will take turns driving cars, cars with odd license plates will go on odd days, even license plates will go on even days. During peak days, the team will mobilize 100% of its forces and coordinate with other forces to patrol and regularly control the routes to promptly divert traffic and provide guidance if there are conflicts or traffic jams... All to ensure that tourists return to Cua Lo in the most convenient and safest way.

In Con Cuong, learning from previous years, from the beginning of February, the District People's Committee issued Plan No. 71/KH-UBND dated February 10 on "Strengthening the management of the tourism environment to ensure security and safety for tourists in Con Cuong district". In particular, special attention is paid to ensuring traffic safety on routes to tourist destinations.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hai Dang - Head of Con Cuong District Police said: "To ensure security, order and traffic safety during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, we will mobilize maximum forces and vehicles for patrolling and controlling. In addition, the District Police force will coordinate with the police of 13 communes, towns, and self-management groups in residential areas to perform security and order tasks to promptly resolve and handle situations that may arise. Currently, 4 patrol teams to control National Highway 7A have been established, and as soon as the holiday begins, they will immediately patrol to ensure security, order and traffic safety in the area...".
Not only is the increase in the number of people and vehicles on the roads causing traffic safety risks, during the long holidays, people often have a subjective mentality when carrying more people than the prescribed number; using a lot of alcohol and beer, which poses a great risk of traffic accidents. Therefore, the Department of Road and Railway Traffic Police of the Provincial Police also directed units to deploy forces, increase patrol and control along the routes and areas under the management of the unit to ensure traffic safety and order; the Traffic Police force also increased handling of vehicles carrying more people than the prescribed number and driving vehicles after consuming alcohol and beer...
Hopefully, with the efforts of all levels, sectors and localities, this year's holiday season, traffic safety incidents will be limited to the lowest possible level. From there, contributing to building the image of Nghe An tourism as friendly, safe and joyful for visitors from all over the country.
