Strengthening the role of the press in fighting corruption

That was the sharing of Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan at the launching ceremony of the writing contest "Bright examples in the fight against corruption" in the press, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications on the morning of December 18, 2015 in Hanoi.

According to Deputy Minister Truong Minh Tuan, implementing Decision No. 445/QD-TTg on the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption and Decision No. 4061/QD-BTP on Propagating and disseminating laws on corruption prevention, since 2012, writing contests on anti-corruption examples in the press have been organized. In fact, in recent years, our country's anti-corruption work has had clear changes in both awareness and action; a series of corruption cases have been discovered and prosecuted, regaining the people's trust.

Deputy Minister Truong Minh Tuan pointed out that, for the press, the role of information and active criticism of the press in the fight against corruption in the past time has achieved certain results. In order to raise the awareness of the whole society about anti-corruption; improve the qualifications of reporters and journalists participating in writing articles to fight against corruption; Build a policy mechanism on the relationship between press agencies and functional agencies, press agencies and people fighting against corruption; Improve the political quality of journalists directly participating in the fight against corruption, the Ministry of Information and Communications decided to establish a Steering Committee/organization that launched a writing contest about good examples of fighting against corruption in the press, in order to encourage journalists to participate in the fight against corruption in the coming time.

According to the Organizing Committee, the entries are press works (print, electronic, audio, visual) that have been published and distributed between January 1, 2011 and April 30, 2016. Each agency can submit 1-2 entries, and each author can submit no more than 2 entries. The submission period is from 9:00 a.m. on December 18, 2015 to April 30, 2016. The submission location is: Ministry of Information and Communications - 18 Nguyen Du, Hanoi.
