In the article “Limp mother raising paralyzed child” published in Nghe An newspaper in 2016, Ms. Tran Thi Huong (50 years old) was born with a limp, poor health, and sold tea every day at Ro market to earn money to raise her child.
Her son, Tran Van Thanh (1), has brittle bone disease and is paralyzed in the legs and cannot walk. When Thanh was in elementary school, every day Ms. Huong had to hobble and push a wheelchair to take him to school. Now Thanh has finished 5th grade, but due to his health condition, he cannot continue to go to school.
Currently, Huong and her son are living in a small house behind Ro market. Thanh's condition is getting worse, but the family cannot afford to take him to the hospital. Every day, he has to move around in a wheelchair, or crawl on his hands and feet, around the small house, with his mother helping him with all his activities. Meanwhile, the wheelchair he has been using since he was in school is now broken and can no longer fit him.
In order to share the difficult situation of Huong and her son, Nghe An compatriots in Hanoi called for the purchase of a new wheelchair for Thanh, to help him move and live more easily. The wheelchair was given to Thanh on the afternoon of May 27.
