"Like land, like tree"

Coming to Nghia Hoi commune (Nghia Dan) today, what is easy to see is the change in a poor suburban commune. The narrow inner-village roads of the past have now become clear thanks to the smooth concrete roads and the addition of many spacious high-rise buildings.

With its suburban location adjacent to Nghia Dan town, Nghia Hoi was previously listed among the least developed communes. The Party Congress of the commune for the 2015-2020 term determined the goal of "becoming a growth pole in the Northeast of Nghia Dan" which demonstrated high political determination for Nghia Hoi to reach a new level of development.

The Resolution on building Nghia Hoi commune to meet new rural standards has been issued, focusing on the criteria of increasing people's income. On that basis, the Party Committee of the commune has issued two "backbone" projects in the fields of agriculture and forestry, namely the project to build a specialized vegetable growing model and the project to plant raw material forests.

Promote livestock development.

To implement the specialized vegetable growing project, Dong Tien hamlet was chosen as a pilot. The day we visited the hamlet, on the Cua Truc fields, cabbage and cauliflower were already green. The hamlet had brought electricity to the fields, drilled wells, and built drainage ditches to create favorable conditions for people to produce.

Dong Tien has more than 2 hectares converted to vegetable growing, with income twice that of rice growing. Households of Dau The Thong and Le Hong Thuong each grow up to 4 sao of vegetables, with a fairly high income. Party cell secretary and hamlet head Le Van Tham shared: To solve the difficulty in output for Dong Tien vegetable products, the Party cell committee and hamlet executive committee have planned to reorganize a group of households specializing in purchasing and consuming for the people. At the same time, connect with Nghe An Wood Factory to regularly provide safe vegetables and quality food for workers' meals.

If vegetable growing in Dong Tien creates a model for fast and stable income, Nghia Hoi's review of forestry land fund to convert from ineffective sugarcane growing land to growing paper raw materials in the context of Nghe An Wood Processing Factory located in the area has officially come into operation, has also opened up a new development direction for the locality.

The commune Party Secretary Cao Xuan Hoang said: The commune has also worked with Nghe An Wood Processing Factory to coordinate in building a model, high-quality raw material area, while creating a landscape around the factory on the commune's land. Currently, Nghia Hoi has converted 200 hectares of paper raw materials to create a foundation for increasing the area in the following years. Thus, converting nearly 1,000 hectares of ineffective agricultural and forestry land to growing raw wood based on the association with the factory is becoming a new development direction of Nghia Hoi.

Unlike Nghia Hoi, Nghia Trung, in implementing the Resolution of the Commune Party Congress for the 2015-2020 term, has identified a "prime" location between Thai Hoa urban area and Nghia Dan town, so it has early oriented to develop various types of services and grow specialty crops to implement the project of "converting upland crops". In addition to Dong Be Eco-Restaurant becoming a highlight and destination in the suburban dining service for diners inside and outside the district, thanks to the implementation of the project "Converting crops on agricultural land in the period of 2015-2020", it has created fundamental changes in each field and each area of ​​land of the commune.

Accordingly, Nghia Trung has simultaneously converted ineffective rice-fish growing land to growing flowers and ornamental plants concentrated in 4 hamlets including Dap Be, Xuan Yen, Dien Xuan, Tan Trung. For ineffective sugarcane land from Dong Nheo hamlet to Dong Be hamlet, it has been converted to growing oranges, tangerines, guavas, grapefruits, etc.

Party Secretary Bui Huy Tru said: Thanks to Nghia Trung's early identification of the breakthrough in this term as improving the efficiency of agricultural economy by implementing the project of converting upland crops, therefore, just over 1 year after the Party Congress, nearly 40 hectares have been converted to growing fruit trees. In addition, the commune has formed an orientation for developing suburban service economy, the average income has increased from 17 million VND/person/year to 20 million VND; the poverty rate has also decreased significantly from 12.3% to 8% by the end of this year.

Opening new directions

Now when talking about the leading locality in applying high-tech agriculture in Nghe An province, people often mention Nghia Dan with the presence of projects in the field of agriculture and forestry from production to processing of TH Group such as: dairy farming project associated with processing, clean vegetable project, wood processing... and this is completely correct because the orientation of Resolution 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the development orientation of Nghe An province to 2020 has determined the construction of a center for applying high-tech agriculture in Nghia Dan...

Thus, it can be seen quite clearly that Nghia Dan identifies agricultural economy as the main development direction of the district. Besides high-tech agricultural projects, the application of technical solutions, technologies, and new processes to improve the efficiency of traditional plants and animals is being widely implemented.

Comrade Phan Van Binh - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee said: Nghia Dan encourages communes to rely on their own advantages to be proactive and creative in building new and effective agricultural models. On that basis, the district also has a number of support mechanisms to "stimulate" investment for households to create a widespread development movement.

After the 28th District Party Congress, Nghia Dan issued 3 programs, 5 projects, 7 directives to concretize the resolution's objectives, notably in the economic field, the project on new rural construction also focused on building models and projects to apply high-tech agriculture to increase people's income. However, in reality, the application of high-tech agriculture with large investment and synchronous investment is still a big obstacle for Nghia Dan in the context that most households are still poor.

Therefore, the new direction that Nghia Dan has identified to improve economic efficiency on traditional plants and animals by applying some solutions on varieties and techniques is considered completely correct.
