Community-based training on safety inspection of small and medium dams
(Baonghean.vn) - The training program aims to equip officers in charge of responding to natural disasters with more knowledge about lake and dam safety.
Today (December 26), in Dien Chau district, the Vietnam Dam Safety Project organized a training course on "Community-based safety inspection of small and medium dams" for commune and district officials monitoring dam and reservoir projects and in charge of disaster response.
In addition to Dien Chau district, the training course was also held in Nam Dan and Yen Thanh districts for 2 days (December 27 and 28).

This program is part of the “Vietnam - New Zealand Dam Safety” Project - Phase 2, implemented by the University of Water Resources in collaboration with GNS Science and Damwatch Engineering of New Zealand, with the general goal of researching to minimize damage to people and property caused by floods, including the cause of dam failures.

At the training session, the lecturers disseminated related contents such as: Overview of small and medium dam safety in Vietnam; signs of unsafe dams; measures to conduct dam safety inspection and assessment... Trainees also did practical exercises.
