(Baonghean.vn) - By the afternoon of October 31, all fishing boats in Nghe An will return to safe storm shelters.

In the coming days, Nghe An will have heavy rain due to the influence of storm No. 5, so local authorities are actively propagating and informing fishermen to anchor their boats safely.

Arriving at Lach Quen fishing port, Quynh Thuan commune (Quynh Luu) at noon on October 31, hundreds of offshore fishing boats have been returning to shore for many days now. According to the owners of the vessels, upon receiving news of a monsoon, all fishing boats immediately returned to shore and anchored from October 25 until now. Although they have been back ashore for nearly a week, because Nghe An will have heavy rain due to the influence of storm No. 5, fishermen still cannot go to sea.

The entire Quynh Luu district has nearly 1,200 fishing vessels, of which over 700 are operating inshore. According to an update from the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, by the afternoon of October 31, 100% of fishing vessels in Quynh Luu had returned to shore. However, some small-capacity vessels are still subjectively operating nearshore. To limit damage to people and property, in addition to issuing telegrams on storm and flood prevention and control, the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district is continuing to direct localities to monitor the activities of all types of vessels. Fishermen are strictly prohibited from going to sea to fish, especially in fishing grounds from Quang Binh to Quang Tri that are directly affected by the storm.

In Hoang Mai town, nearly 1,000 fishing boats also returned to shore safely many days ago. Local authorities and border guards are implementing plans and propagating to fishermen to protect their assets on board; at the same time, anchoring boats securely and asking fishermen not to subjectively go out to sea to fish when the weather is unfavorable.

Dien Chau district has 1,447 boats, including 280 boats with a capacity of over 90 CV, fishing offshore. Mr. Le The Hieu - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dien Chau district said: Since the morning of October 31, all of the local offshore fishing boats have anchored in safe locations, including some boats anchored in other provinces. For small-capacity boats, fishing near shore, after the morning trip on October 31, the District People's Committee notified coastal localities, propagated and mobilized fishermen to urgently bring their boats back to anchor, to avoid the storm safely from the afternoon of October 31.

According to the Department of Fisheries, Nghe An currently has 3,510 boats. By noon on October 31, 100% of boats from localities, including Hoang Mai town, Quynh Luu, Dien Chau, Nghi Loc districts and Cua Lo town, had made contact and returned to port safely. Some large-capacity boats from some localities were anchored at fishing ports outside the province. Currently, no boats have lost contact. Small-capacity boats, fishing near shore from the afternoon of October 31, must anchor in a safe location.
