Workers' Month becomes the highlight of trade union activities in 2024

The 2024 “Workers’ Month” was developed by the Standing Committee of the Provincial Federation of Labor with the theme “Workers’ Solidarity - Implementing the Resolution”. With the requirement of focusing on the grassroots level, the Provincial Federation of Labor set a target of 100% of grassroots trade unions in all types of enterprises organizing at least 1 activity in response to Workers’ Month; 100% of grassroots trade unions in administrative agencies and public service units organizing appropriate activities in response to Workers’ Month 2024.

In Workers' Month 2024, Nghe An Trade Union pays special attention to the content of listening to workers, through activities such as organizing the forum "Listening to workers' voices", the forum "Workers for businesses, businesses for workers", the program "Coming to workers' boarding houses"... This is also an opportunity to promote propaganda and widely disseminate the Resolution and Action Program to implement the resolutions of the Trade Union Congresses at all levels, the 19th Nghe An Provincial Trade Union Congress, and the 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Union.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy - Head of Propaganda DepartmentProvincial Federation of Labor, share: Through a series of activities such as "Bringing the Resolution into life"; "May Dialogue"; Thematic contact with worker voters"; "Going to workers' boarding houses", trade unions at all levels can combine propaganda, thoroughly understand the study and implementation of the Resolution of the Trade Union Congress at all levels for the 2023-2028 term, on Resolution No. 02 of the Politburo and the pride of workers... Propaganda work will also continue to be carried out in many forms and focus more on visual propaganda. In addition, to build practical activities of visiting, giving gifts and supporting, trade unions at all levels will organize surveys to grasp the situation of workers, civil servants and laborers in boarding houses, dormitories and official houses.

The honoring activities were also widely deployed with the highlight being the political activity "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style on workers and trade unions"; praising advanced models of studying and following Uncle Ho. In particular, the Provincial Labor Federation will organize a program to honor "Nghe An workers following Uncle Ho's words" in 2024.

Emphasizing the importance and influence of this program, Mr. Kha Van Tam - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation, said: "For the program to be truly effective, all units need to have a plan right now, build the program from the grassroots, implement it methodically and substantially, creating a strong ripple effect among the working class and laborers".

Workers' Month is also considered a peak month for developing union members, establishing grassroots unions, and introducing outstanding union members to the Party for consideration and training. A new feature of this year's activities is the organization of admission of the "May Union Member Class" and the organization of the launching ceremony of the grassroots union in May 2024.

Must have creative mark

In the spirit of encouraging creativity based on the reality and characteristics of each locality and unit, Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation Kha Van Tam added: “Workers’ Month 2024 must be considered a highlight of innovation and creativity. Each grassroots trade union needs to consider and research to build a separate, unique, and suitable program for its unit, with specific instructions for grassroots trade unions to implement.”

In the 2024 Workers' Month plan, there are many new activities that have created a widespread impact. Many large-scale concentrated activities are deployed simultaneously. Typically, organizing workers at grassroots unions to salute the flag and sing the National Anthem on Monday mornings; the "Union Meal" program; the peak period of establishing new grassroots unions and developing union members from May 2 to May 20...

At the units, trade unions at all levels will coordinate with the authorities, professionals, and employers to organize a series of cultural, artistic, physical education, and sports activities "Healthy for work and production". Notably, this year union members and workers will participate in the "Running Competition for workers, civil servants, and laborers". Flag-raising activities, singing the National Anthem every Monday morning, and mid-break exercises on weekdays during the Workers' Month are also launched by grassroots unions, promising to spread beautiful, proud images of the working class. In addition, trade unions at all levels will also coordinate with professionals to organize sightseeing, tourism, vacation, and periodic health check-ups for workers, "Workers' Markets", "Union Meals", "Discount Sales Week" with essential necessities to serve union members and workers, etc.

Immediately after the plan to organize activities for Workers' Month 2024 was issued by the Provincial Federation of Labor, a number of grassroots trade unions immediately developed programs and deployed them to the grassroots level.

In Quy Hop district, the District Labor Federation has developed a plan to coordinate with the District People's Committee and the District Association of Small and Medium Enterprises to organize a launching ceremony in response to the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene in 2024 in combination with organizing the Workers' Month in 2024; Organize the Program "Union member welfare", "Health care festival" for union members and workers in the whole district...

Based on the practical situation of its unit, the Do Luong District Labor Federation registered to support funding for 1 or 2 union members to build houses from the district's "Contribute bricks to build houses for union members in difficulty" fund; build district-level works with signs "Welcoming the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union, Workers' Month" in 2024; sign the "Union member welfare" program to reduce medical examination and treatment costs for union members and workers; organize a district-level "Healthy and beautiful dance" contest...

In the unit's registration of the plan to implement Workers' Month in 2024, the Dong Nam Economic Zone Trade Union has created a table with specific details of tasks as well as implementation time. Accordingly, this unit will organize a workshop to improve the effectiveness of the emulation movement, organize 2 legal consultations, legal policy dialogues at enterprises; coordinate with the Dong Nam Economic Zone Management Board to monitor 14 enterprises on compliance with the provisions of the Law on Labor Safety and Hygiene, labor laws; organize the first "Nghe An Workers Following Uncle Ho's Teachings" commendation conference; simultaneously deploy the "Union Meal" program on May 17, mid-break exercise activities for workers and laborers of enterprises, etc.

With many practical and innovative activities and the spirit of determination and responsibility of the union staff in the whole province,Workers Month2024 promises to be a highlight program of the year./.
