(Baonghean.vn) - At noon on June 4, in Thanh Chuong district, a large tornado occurred in Thanh Long, Vo Liet, Thanh Chi, and Thanh Ha communes, causing a lot of damage.

Thanh Long commune health station's roof was completely blown off.

In particular, in Thanh Long commune, the tornado blew off the entire corrugated iron roof, pulled down the purlins, 'fly swatters' and collapsed the wall of the Health Station; broke 2 high-voltage power poles, over 20 low-voltage power poles causing widespread power outages. The tornado also broke about 50 hectares of rice and corn that were ready to be harvested. In addition, it blew off the roofs of dozens of houses and broke hundreds of trees. The estimated damage was over 200 million VND.

Many corn fields in Vo Liet commune at the foot of Ro bridge were completely destroyed.

According to hydrometeorological forecasts, a cold air mass is currently flowing in and will continue to cause many extreme weather situations. The Party Committee, authorities and functional agencies in Thanh Chuong district are directing people to harvest rice and spring corn, reinforce houses and warehouses and protect constructions to minimize damage.
