(Baonghean.vn) - At noon on June 4, in Thanh Chuong district, a large tornado occurred in Thanh Long, Vo Liet, Thanh Chi, and Thanh Ha communes, causing a lot of damage.

Thanh Long commune health station's roof was completely blown off.

In particular, in Thanh Long commune, the tornado tore off the entire corrugated iron roof, tore down purlins, fly swatters and collapsed the wall of the Health Station; broke 2 high-voltage electric poles, over 20 low-voltage electric poles causing widespread power outages. The tornado also broke about 50 hectares of rice and corn that were ready to be harvested. In addition, it tore off the roofs of dozens of houses and broke hundreds of trees. The estimated damage was over 200 million VND.

People in hamlet 11, Thanh Long commune, cleared fallen trees to make way.

Many corn fields in Vo Liet commune at the foot of Ro bridge were completely destroyed.

According to hydrometeorological forecasts, a cold air mass is currently flowing in and will continue to cause many extreme weather situations. The authorities and functional agencies in Thanh Chuong district are directing people to harvest rice and spring corn, reinforce houses and warehouses, and protect structures to minimize damage.
