Lao - Vietnamese youth launch program 'Following the footsteps of leaders'

(Baonghean.vn) - The program "Following the footsteps of leaders" organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in coordination with the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union officially opened on the evening of October 30, at Vinh University.

The program “Following the footsteps of Vietnamese and Lao leaders 2017” is an important political event for the youth of the two countries, practically celebrating the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos and the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos friendship and cooperation agreement.

Attending the event were comrade Nguyen Long Hai - Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Youth Union.

On the Lao side, there were comrade SamLan PhanKhaVong - Member of the Standing Committee, Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union; Thongsavanh Phomevihane - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission.

The program is an opportunity for young people and students to visit and learn about historical sites where the leaders of the two countries, President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong, lived, studied and worked; visit and learn about historical sites associated with the feats of arms of the two countries' army and people in the struggle for national independence of each country.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Minh Triet - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the School Youth Committee, Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union emphasized: "The Central Committees of the Youth Unions of the two countries agreed to implement the program "Following the Footsteps of the Leaders of Vietnam - Laos" with the hope that through the program, the youth and students of the two countries will have deeper and more specific feelings about the history and friendly relationship between Vietnam and Laos; thereby taking specific actions to foster the invaluable common assets of the two countries; responding to the trust and expectations of the leaders of the Party, State and people of the two countries".

On behalf of the Lao youth and student delegation, comrade SamLan PhanKhaVong - Member of the Standing Committee, Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union expressed his deep gratitude to the Party and State of Laos and Vietnam for creating favorable conditions for students and youth of the two countries to have the opportunity to develop themselves through this meaningful program.

In the presence of more than 500 members and youths from both countries, the program “Following the footsteps of the leaders” was officially launched. The program took place from October 30 to November 11, 2017 in Nghe An, Hanoi, Hoa Binh, Son La and the two provinces of Hua Phan and Xieng Khouang (Laos).

Tomorrow (October 31), youth delegations from both countries will offer incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at Kim Lien Relic Site (Nam Dan).
