(Baonghean.vn) - Seeing a donation box of charity porridge for poor patients, the Association quickly stole it but was later discovered by the patient's family.

On June 28, Con Cuong District People's Court opened a criminal trial against defendant Pham Van Hoi (born in 1979, residing in Hamlet 11, Dien Yen Commune, Dien Chau District) for the crime of Theft of property.

Accordingly, at around 12:30 p.m. on April 12, 2018, Pham Van Hoi entered the Southwest Nghe An Regional General Hospital (located in Bong Khe commune, Con Cuong district). Here, Hoi discovered a donation box for charity porridge, so he quickly stole it.

However, Hoi's actions were discovered by the patient's family, so they reported to the authorities to arrest him. The amount of money Hoi stole was more than 2.1 million VND.

This is the money donated by people at the hospital to support the charity porridge program for poor patients.

Subject Hoi had 3 previous convictions for theft and was most recently released from prison in May 2014.

In court, Pham Van Hoi confessed to all his crimes. The panel sentenced defendant Hoi to 24 months in prison.
