Impressive achievements of Dien Chau male students
(Baonghean.vn) - With good academic achievements, especially achieving high results in the recent 10th grade entrance exam, Dau Tran Nhat Long (15 years old), a 9C student at Cao Xuan Huy Secondary School, Dien Chau District, was simultaneously admitted to 4 blocks and "top" high schools nationwide.
Present at Long's house (block 4, Dien Chau town) in mid-July, the atmosphere of excitement over his 10th grade entrance exam results seemed to be spreading in every member of the family. Long is the eldest child in a studious family of 4 siblings, his parents are in business. The 9th grade male student impresses people with his tall stature, gentle smile and intelligent, witty way of speaking.

In the recent 10th grade entrance exam, at the Admissions Council of Nguyen Xuan On High School, Dien Chau District, Long had a score of 9.75 in Math; 8 in Literature; 8.2 in Combination (English, Chemistry, History), a total score multiplied by 43.7 points, the highest score in the school. At Phan Boi Chau Specialized School (Vinh City), Long had an English score of 8.98; 17.75/20 in Math, the third highest score in the school. At the High School block, University of Natural Sciences - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Long had a Math (general) score of 8.5; 7.5 in Math (specialized). With this academic achievement and exam result, Long was simultaneously admitted to 4 blocks and schools in the "top" nationwide, including Vinh University Specialized High School.
The results of the 10th grade entrance exam reflect Long's efforts in studying for 9 consecutive years. Long won second prize in the provincial online English contest (grade 5); was directly admitted to Cao Xuan Huy Secondary School - a key school in the district; achieved the title of excellent student of the district in 2 subjects: Math and English (grades 6, 7); first prize in the district-level Young Informatics Contest; second prize in the provincial-level Mathematical Talent Search Contest (grade 9). In particular, Long achieved high results in the Vietnam Young Math Talent Search Contest (2018). The memory he remembers most when winning this award is that the Phu Linh parish scholarship fund (Dien Chau) gave him an additional bicycle.

When asked about his own learning methods and experiences to achieve high results, Long immediately said: “I don’t have any special secrets and I don’t study in any specific way. For me, when I go to class, I usually pay attention to the teacher’s lectures, and when I get home, I try to do all the exercises in the textbook. I like to collect advanced books and exam sets to learn more. I consider the Internet an effective learning channel, supplementing a lot of knowledge, especially English.”
Teacher Pham Thi Huong - homeroom teacher of class 9C, Cao Xuan Huy Secondary School said: Long is a good, gentle, intelligent, modest student with a "very adult" personality. Long has clear learning goals, promotes high self-study, independent thinking, and good life skills.

Currently, Long speaks English quite fluently and has worked as a “special” interpreter many times in his hometown parish. At first, Long intended to study English, but after being advised by his family, he switched to studying Mathematics and Information Technology. When he received the admission results from the schools, Long decided to choose the high school block – University of Natural Sciences – VNU Hanoi to enroll.
“I chose this school because Hanoi has a good environment for learning English and IT, so I have the opportunity to improve my knowledge. Schools in Hanoi also have many extracurricular activities for students to experience and explore. I hope that in the new environment, I will find many opportunities to hunt for scholarships to study abroad,” Long explained.
Talking about her son, Ms. Tran Thi Phuc - Long's mother shared: As the eldest brother in the family, Long has a sense of independence early, a high spirit of self-study, and his mother rarely has to remind him.
